SSL Certificate Not Working¶
The padlock (SSL/HTTPS) keeps your site secure and stops the "not secure" warning. If it's not working, here's how to fix it. See Secure your site (SSL) for the setup.
The padlock isn't showing / "not secure"¶
- Make sure SSL is enabled. In your control panel, enable SSL for the domain. See Secure your site (SSL).
- Wait for the certificate to issue. It can take a little time to generate. Check back.
- Visit the
https://version. Sometimes thehttp://version doesn't redirect. Try typinghttps://explicitly.
Mixed content warning¶
If your page loads but the padlock has a warning, it's usually mixed content — some images or scripts are loading over http:// instead of https://. Update those links to https://.
Redirect loop¶
If it keeps bouncing between http and https, check your WordPress address and Site address in Settings → General. Both should use the same protocol (both https://). See Fix common WordPress errors.
Certificate not renewing¶
Let's Encrypt certificates renew automatically, but sometimes a renewal fails. If your certificate is about to expire or shows an error, re-issue it from the control panel, or contact support.
It works on the main domain but not a subdomain¶
A subdomain may need its own certificate or a wildcard certificate. See Use a subdomain.
Still no padlock? Contact support — we'll check the certificate and get it sorted.
