Upgrade or Downgrade Your Plan¶
Need more resources (room to grow) or want to trim costs? You can move between hosting plans at any time from your account area. This page explains what happens when you do.
What happens when you change plans¶
- Your service keeps running — no downtime.
- Your files, email, and databases stay put — you're not re-uploading anything.
- Your billing is re-calculated automatically.
- Upgrading — you pay for the higher plan going forward. Depending on the timing, you may owe the difference for the remainder of your current term, or start paying the higher rate at your next renewal.
- Downgrading — you move to a lower plan. Downgrades usually take effect at your next renewal date.
How to change your plan¶
- Log in to your account area.
- Go to Services and find the hosting service you want to change.
- Look for an Upgrade / Downgrade / Change Plan option.
- Pick the new plan and follow the prompts.
Some changes are instant; some billing adjustments may take effect at your next renewal. Either way, you'll see the details before you confirm.
Before you downgrade¶
Check your resource usage first — disk space, bandwidth, and how many websites/email accounts you use. If you're close to your current limits, a lower plan may not be enough. Your control panel shows your usage.
Tip: if you're unsure which plan fits, check the resource meters in your control panel. That tells you what you're actually using, so you choose the right size.
