Affordable Web Hosting

"Cheap hosting" is the most common thing people search for — and it's also where a lot of people get burned. Here's how to find genuinely affordable hosting without falling into a trap.

See what you'd pay: check Plans & pricing, or contact support and we'll help you pick the cheapest plan that fits.

Cheap doesn't have to mean bad

You can absolutely get good, reliable hosting for a few dollars a month. Our shared hosting starts at $1.25/mo and still includes a free SSL certificate, email on your domain, and real 24/7 support. That's a genuinely good deal.

See How much does web hosting cost? for the full price picture.

What to watch out for

A few things that make "cheap" hosting a bad deal in disguise:

  • Renewal jumps. A $1/mo first month that becomes $10/mo at renewal is a trap. Always check the renewal price. See Renewals explained.
  • Upsells everywhere. Hosts that nickel-and-dime for backups, SSL, or email. We include those in the plan.
  • No email or a domain that isn't really yours. You want you@yourbusiness.com, not a free address.
  • Terrible support. When something breaks, you need a person, not a ticket queue that ignores you.

What you actually need to pay for

For most small businesses, the essentials are:

  • A domain — your address (usually ~$10–$15/year).
  • Shared hosting — a few dollars a month.
  • SSL + email — included in our plans.

That's it. You don't need a big plan to start. See How to choose a hosting plan.

The honest trade-off

The very cheapest hosting (and especially free hosting) usually costs you in other ways — see Free web hosting: the honest truth. A few dollars a month for reliable hosting, a real domain, and human support is almost always worth it.

Start small, upgrade later. Pick an entry plan, and you can always move up as you grow. See Plans & pricing and Upgrade or downgrade your plan.
