Change Your Password¶
Here's how to update or reset your Email Hosting mailbox password — and how to keep your devices working afterward.
Change a password you know¶
- Log in to webmail — see Log in to webmail.
- Open User Settings.
- Find Change password and choose it.
- Enter your current password, then a new one, and confirm.
Your new password must be reasonably strong. See Strong passwords for tips.
Reset a forgotten password¶
If you've forgotten your password, you have a couple of paths:
- If you set a recovery email — use the Forgot Password? link on the webmail login page. It'll email you a link to set a new one.
- If you didn't set a recovery email — contact support. They can help you reset it securely.
Turn on two-factor authentication (recommended)¶
For a much stronger login, add two-factor authentication to your mailbox. In User Settings, look for the two-factor authentication section and choose a method — a phone authenticator app (like Google Authenticator or Authy) is easiest. Once on, logging in also needs a code from your phone.
Keep your devices working after a password change¶
After you change your password, update it in every device that uses that mailbox:
- Your phone mail app
- Your computer mail app (Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.)
- Any app or service that sends mail through this address
An app with the old password may show "connection failed" or stop receiving mail until you update it. Webmail keeps working, so you're never locked out.
App passwords¶
Some devices and apps don't handle a regular password well, or you'd rather not use your main one. In User Settings, you can create an app password just for a device. Use that in the mail app instead of your main password — and you can revoke it later without changing your main password.
Tip: a password manager makes it easy to keep track without remembering it all. See Strong passwords.
