DNS Not Working / Domain Won't Load¶
"I pointed my domain but my site isn't showing" is the most common question we get. Here's how to figure out what's going on.
First, be patient — DNS takes time¶
When you change nameservers or DNS records, it can take from a few minutes up to 24–48 hours to spread worldwide. This is called propagation, and it's normal. If it's been less than a day, wait a bit and try again.
See Point your domain for the full steps.
Check the obvious things¶
- Did you save the change? It's easy to update a field and forget to save at your registrar.
- Are the nameservers correct? Use the exact ones we gave you. See Nameservers explained.
- Is the domain pointing at the right place? Your A record should point to our server. See The complete guide to DNS records.
- Try a different device/network. Clear your browser cache or try your phone on mobile data — a cached old answer can linger on your computer.
Use a public DNS check¶
Type your domain into a public DNS checker (like Google's or an online "DNS lookup") to see what records are actually being served. If the records look right but the site won't load, the issue may be elsewhere.
If it's been more than 48 hours¶
If your domain still won't load after 48 hours and your records look correct, contact support. We'll check the records and the server.
Also check: if your site loads but shows an error, it might not be DNS at all — see Website won't load.
