Two-Factor Authentication¶
Two-factor authentication (often called "2FA" or "MFA") adds a second lock to your login. Even if someone gets your password, they still can't get in without the second step.
How it works¶
When you log in with your password, you'll also be asked for a code that changes every 30 seconds on a phone app, or sent to you by text. Only someone with your password and your phone can get in.
Turning it on¶
- Log in to the account you want to protect.
- Look for Security, Two-Factor, or 2FA in your settings.
- Follow the prompts to scan a QR code with an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator or Authy), or enter your phone number.
- Confirm with a code and save. Keep the backup codes somewhere safe.
Where to enable it¶
- Your email — the most valuable account
- Your account area — for billing and support
- Your control panel — for the technical side
How to avoid getting locked out¶
- Save the recovery codes you're given when you set it up
- Keep your authenticator app on a phone you actually use
- If you change phones, set up 2FA on the new one before losing the old
Lost your phone? Use your recovery codes, or contact support with proof of identity and we'll help you back in.
