Website Won't Load / Site Is Down¶
If your site isn't loading, don't panic — it's usually something simple. Here's a step-by-step checklist to find the problem.
Step 1 — Is it just you?¶
Sometimes a site is fine but your own connection or cache is the issue.
- Try another device (phone on mobile data, a different computer).
- Clear your browser cache and try again.
- Try a different browser or an incognito window.
If it works elsewhere, it's your device, not the site.
Step 2 — Check for a domain/DNS issue¶
If the site is down everywhere, check your domain.
- Did you just point your domain? Changes take up to 48 hours to spread. See DNS not working.
- Are the records correct? See The complete guide to DNS records.
Step 3 — Check for a hosting issue¶
- Is your account up to date? An unpaid invoice can suspend a service. See Pay an invoice.
- Did you hit a resource limit? A slow or down site can be a storage/bandwidth issue. See Speed up your website.
Step 4 — Check for a site/software problem¶
- If WordPress, a plugin or update may have broken it. See Fix common WordPress errors.
- Check if a recent change caused it. If you just edited something, undo it or restore a backup — see Backups.
Step 5 — Check our status¶
If it's a service-wide issue, we'll have it posted. Check our status page, or contact support.
Still down? Contact support — tell us your domain and what you see (error message, blank page, etc.), and we'll help right away.
